On Friday, October 9, 2026, distinguished YSU alumnus and Nashville songwriter Bob DiPiero will return to Youngstown with friends, Blessing Offor and JT Harding for a very special American Made benefiting Sojourner House.
For the first time, American Made will be held on the campus of Youngstown State University, where Ford Theater at Bliss Hall will be transformed into the Penguin Café — our recreation of Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Café. The more intimate venue will bring sponsors and guests closer to the music, the stories behind the songs, and the artists who created them.

Join COMPASS Family & Community Services for an impactful day of education, collaboration, and community engagement as we welcome nationally recognized speaker Jim Schmidt for the Gabby Petito Foundation Community Training.
This dynamic training will bring together law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, prosecutors, victim advocates, medical professionals, behavioral health providers, educators, students, and community leaders to explore the realities of domestic violence, coercive control, strangulation, trauma-informed response, and victim-centered intervention. Through both professional expertise and personal experience, Jim Schmidt delivers a powerful message that equips attendees to recognize warning signs, improve responses, and strengthen outcomes for victims and survivors.
